Moreton Morrell and Lighthorne Parishes

The two parishes directly impacted by the Deeres Leap proposals are Moreton Morrell and Lighthorne, with residents and landowners in Ashorne also affected by the proposed solar farm, which would run alongside the busy Fosse Way B4455.

The Site

  • 120 acre Deeres Leap development site is situated on both sides of the Fosse Way B4455 within the parishes of Moreton Morrell and Lighthorne

  • Proposed development also impacts on the parish of Newbold Pacey and Ashorne, which already has a 25MW Solar Farm off the Newbold Road nearing completion after 12 months

  • Moreton Morrell Lane will be impacted by proposed cabling routing from solar farm to Grid connection on Newbold Road

  • Nearly 500,000 solar panels would be installed within perimeter fencing keeping wildlife out

  • No green energy benefit to villagers

  • Community benefit to parish councils is derisory

Parishioners of Newbold Pacey and Ashorne have already been impacted by the solar farm on the Newbold Road which has changed the character of the gateway entrance into Newbold Pacey.

Construction Plans

  • Planning Permission sought for 40 years operation

  • 12 months construction with major impact to traffic management and road users of the Fosse Way - causing rat runs through villages

  • Construction from Monday – Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 9am–1pm

  • Proposals include two access points off the Fosse Way to access the eastern and western fields, with extensive vehicle splays resulting in major removal of roadside trees and hedges along Fosse Way with significant impacts on both flora and fauna
